ETC takes 716 Wisconsin-based employees to The Lion King at the Overture

“Have fun and make money” has long been the mission statement at ETC, a Wisconsin-based company that manufactures lighting and rigging equipment for entertainment and architectural markets. On May 18, the company puts the emphasis on having fun by taking 716 staff from Middleton and Mazomanie to see Disney’s The Lion King at the Overture Center for the Arts.

ETC will close down its global headquarters in Middleton as well as its manufacturing facility in Mazomanie for the afternoon. Lunch and transportation will be provided to employees as they build up excitement to see the award-winning show. 

“This is really a moment for the Wisconsin-based ETC family to come together and see the magic that our products help lighting designers create on stage,” says Dick Titus, CEO of ETC. “Employees will be able to see the lighting and control we manufacture right here in Wisconsin bring The Lion King story to life.”

In addition to taking employees to the show, ETC worked with the Overture Center to purchase 400 tickets for local K-12 students to see The Lion King. Tickets were distributed to the Goodman Community Center, the Wisconsin Heights School District, Middleton drama programs, and the Disney Musicals in Schools program.

This excursion continues a longstanding tradition of ETC taking company-wide field trips. A love for sci-fi has long been a part of ETC’s culture. In 2015, the company rented out 10 movie auditoriums to take all Wisconsin employees to the opening of Star Wars – The Force Awakens. The company had also attended premiers of Star Trek: The Motion Picture in 1979 and Star Wars: The Phantom Menace in 1999.
