ETC to host Networking for Lighting Technicians class in Moscow
Date Posted: 1/25/2017
ETC is inviting lighting technicians and project engineers to a free training seminar on using network devices for theater- and event-lighting. The ‘Networking for Lighting Technicians’ course will take place from 10:00-17:00 on February 10th, at the
GST show room in Moscow.
Beginners and more advanced network users are invited to attend the training. The class will go over the basics of networking, and will include information on using DMX and RDM; IP addressing; network protocols, such as ArtNet, ACN and sACN; and configuration and monitoring software. ETC employees
will present some of the information in a lecture format, and attendees will be able to participate in discussions and get a lot of hands-on experience throughout the event.
“The goal of this training seminar is to give technicians and engineers a better understanding of the new network devices that are constantly appearing in our industry,” explains ETC Service Technician Corey Cascio. “While a lot of them are familiar with using DMX and electricity,
they’re not as confident with network hardware, IP addresses or protocols. They’ll walk away from this class with a basic knowledge of network essentials and the ability to troubleshoot lighting-network problems in their daily work.”
While the networking training is free, the class size is limited to 20 people, and ETC requests that everyone register in advance. For more information and to register for the Networking for Lighting Technicians course, visit
