A theme is a preset package, or set of resources, containing graphical appearance details including shapes and colors for the graphical control elements and the screen decoration that will be utilized by the Paradigm system to display a configuration on a touchscreen.
ControlDesigner includes a standard set of themes for convenience. ControlDesigner references the
Paradigm Themes directory in the user's home directory (on Windows, typically this is C:\Users\*username*\Documents\Paradigm Themes). This is the same directory that the "Import" function will copy a theme to and is the default system theme directory, located within the ControlDesigner installation directory.
ThemeDesigner is a sub-application within ControlDesigner, provided as a tool to create a new custom theme or modify an existing theme. Details of the use of ThemeDesigner and details about theme elements can be found in the ThemeDesigner online help system.
A skin is a graphical look for a control, consisting of one or more images. Each theme has a defined skin for each control type. This is the skin that is used to graphically render a control when it is first added to the configuration.
A theme can contain any number of icons that are consistent with the overall appearance of the theme. Icons can be used in labels and buttons and can be overridden in the state properties for each control from within the State Editor.
Sounds can be included within a theme and are supported on compatible Paradigm touchscreens. Sounds can be configured to play in conjunction with a button press.
ControlDesigner makes it easy to change from one theme to another standard or custom theme.
