Import Fonts

Import fonts for use in ControlDesigner and ThemeDesigner touchscreen configurations and themes created in ThemeDesigner.

Note: When a font is not installed for use in LightDesigner, ControlDesigner, and ThemeDesigner configurations, but has been used inside a configuration, a temporary font will be used while the configuration file is open. See Temporary Font Usage.

Where the imported font is stored (accessed) in the ControlDesigner and ThemeDesigner application depends on how the application was installed. During software installation, you would have confirmed if the installation is for all user's or for the current user only. Once a font is imported, it will be available to all ControlDesigner touchscreen configurations as well as all LightDesigner configurations depending on the installation type.

  1. In the [File] menu, select "Import Fonts". The Import Fonts dialog displays for browsing and selection of the font file. Accepted file types include *.otf or *.ttf file.
  2. Browse to and select the file. Use the file type drop down menu to change the filter selection to a different available file type if needed.

Tip: You may also filter the selection to choose ControlDesigner Configurations *lcdconf files to import all fonts within an existing LCD configuration, or the ControlDesigner Themes *.lcdtheme files to import all fonts within an existing Paradigm LCD theme.

  3. Click [Import]. A Font Licensing dialog displays.
  4. Read the important licensing message and click either [Agree] or [Cancel]. If you agree to the licensing requirements, the font will import into the default directory for the installation type and will be available to all ControlDesigner and ThemeDesigner sessions.

Note: The font licensing message is shown only once per ControlDesigner session, and only on the first import.
