Temporary Font Usage
Opening a ControlDesigner and ThemeDesigner configuration or theme referencing fonts not locally installed for Paradigm use results in one of two scenarios:
- If the font itself is not already bundled in either the *.lcdconfig or *.lcdtheme file, it will appear in a "Missing Font Data" dialog during file open. If the referenced font license terms allow distribution on to site hardware, you may choose to cancel from this dialog and instead import the fonts for Paradigm usage. See Import Fonts. If the referenced font is not available or license terms do not permit distribution, there are two possible behaviors depending on whether the font is referenced directly or indirectly.
- If you are editing an *.lcdconfig or *.lcdtheme that directly references the font, you will be offered the option to permanently substitute another font. When saved, this change will become part of the file for future use and you will not be prompted again.
- If you are editing an *.lcdconfig based on an *.lcdtheme that references the font, you will be offered the option to temporarily substitute another font. This is a convenience to show a general idea of touchscreen operation, but is not a change to the file. To avoid being prompted in the future, edit the referenced *.lcdtheme and replace the font usage there.
- If the font itself is already bundled into either the *.lcdconfig or *.lcdtheme file, you will not be prompted during open. Property editor font references will have "(config)" or "(theme)" appended to indicate the source. Fonts included this way are only available while the relevant file is open and cannot be used when editing different touchscreen configurations and themes.

You may import fonts for permanent use with your Paradigm applications including touchscreen configurations and theme configurations. See Import Fonts.
