ETCnomad

ETCnomad is ETC software that is installed on a computer and enabled by a USB dongle. This dongle is compatible with Eos, Cobalt, and Hog 4 family software and turns your computer into a lighting controller. Use your computer as a stand-alone controller for programming and show playback, or as a backup or client to your family consoles.

For more information about using ETCnomad with your family console, refer to:

Reference ETCnomad Puck to learn more about running ETCnomad on ETCnomad Puck.

Outputs

ETCnomad dongles are available at either base or unlocked configurations. The supported output is based (in some cases) on the software version used and if ETCnomad is connected as a primary, backup, or client. Reference the individual product sections in this document for more information on output capacity.

When operating as a client, ETCnomad accesses the full output count of the system to which it is connected.

An ETCnomad dongle at the base output count can be upgraded later to the unlocked version by purchasing an upgrade code. No additional hardware is required.

ETCnomad Kit

The ETCnomad kit includes:

  • ETCnomad security dongle
  • Tag with ETCnomad serial number and dongle number
    • Keep this tag in a safe place for possible future reference
  • USB drive containing Eos software, Cobalt software, Hog 4 PC software, and this setup guide.

To verify that you have the most current software, go to etcconnect.com/Products/Consoles/ or highend.com/products/consoles.

Minimum Hardware Requirements

CAUTION:  ETC does not recommend using Wi-Fi networks to transmit show critical data. Show critical data includes output levels to the rig and backup connections to other consoles, ETCnomad, or client computers.

Note:  When running ETCnomad natively on a Mac, all USB devices other than Universal Fader Wings are supported.

Eos Software

  • Windows 7 (64-bit) / macOS Mojave (10.14)
  • Multi-core processor with clock frequency higher than 2.0 GHz
  • 3.5 GB free disk space
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 1920x1080 screen resolution
  • 64 MB video card
  • Direct X 11 (Windows only)
  • RJ-45 Ethernet network adapter for communication with lighting network, DMX output devices
  • USB-A ports for connection of ETCnomad dongle, accessories

Cobalt Software

  • Windows 7 / macOS Mojave (10.14)
    • macOS Catalina (10.15) and later are not supported
  • Multi-core processor with clock frequency higher than 2.0 GHz
  • 500 MB free disk space
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 1280x1024 screen resolution
  • 64 MB video card
  • RJ-45 Ethernet network adapter for communication with lighting network, DMX output devices
  • USB-A ports for connection of ETCnomad dongle, accessories

Hog 4 PC

Note:  Hog 4 PC is only available for Windows.

  • Windows 10 (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • 1.7 GHz multi-core processor
  • 5 GB free disk space
  • 2 GB RAM

Note:  Since the Hog 4 OS makes use of multiple processes communicating via TCP/IP sockets, some Windows computer configurations may prevent the Hog 4 PC processes from communicating with each other.

Not meeting the system requirements, a lack of an enabled network connection, or multiple active network connections, and/or firewall settings can all result in Hog 4 PC communication failures.

These communication failures typically cause the Splash Screen to repeatedly display ‘Scanning port 6600’ in its status window or other system errors when launching Hog 4 PC.
